Lebanon Condemns Israeli Aggression as Violation of International Agreement

Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun has strongly condemned what he described as Israeli aggression on the outskirts of Lebanon's capital, Beirut.

According to Qatar News Agency, Aoun characterized the attack as a blatant violation of an international agreement and a direct affront to the basic tenets of United Nations and humanitarian laws and resolutions. The incident occurred on the eve of a sacred religious occasion, heightening tensions and concerns over regional stability.

In a statement from the Lebanese Presidency's media office, Aoun emphasized that the aggression signifies a clear rejection by the perpetrator of the requirements necessary for stability, settlement, and just peace in the region. He further claimed that the attack serves as a message to the United States, criticizing its policies and initiatives, with Lebanon being used as a conduit for this message, at the expense of its innocent civilians. Aoun firmly stated that Lebanon will not submit to such tactics.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also condemned the aggression, describing it as a systematic and deliberate targeting of Lebanon, affecting its security, stability, and economy, particularly during the holidays and the tourist season. In a government-issued statement, Salam affirmed that these attacks represent a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty and UN Resolution 1701. He urged the international community to take responsibility in deterring Israel from continuing its assaults and to compel a full withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
