Macron: Recognition of Palestinian State a ‘Moral Duty and Political Requirement’

Singapore: French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Friday that the recognition of a Palestinian state, under specific conditions, is 'not only a moral duty, but a political requirement.'

According to Qatar News Agency, Macron spoke at a joint press conference in Singapore, where he warned that if Israel fails to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, France and the European Union may be compelled to 'harden their collective position,' which could potentially include sanctions.

Macron also reiterated France's firm support for a two-state solution, emphasizing that it remains the only viable path to lasting peace. He stressed the importance of this solution in ensuring stability and security in the region.

France and Saudi Arabia are set to co-chair an international conference on the two-state solution. This conference is scheduled to take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in June, aiming to gather international support and foster dialogue towards achieving peace.
