Davao city: An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck on Wednesday the city of Davao in the Philippines.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) stated that the epicenter of the tectonic quake occurred 37 kilometers off Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, at a depth of 13 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS reported that there is no destructive tsunami threat based on available data, indicating that no damage is expected from the magnitude 6.4 earthquake. However, aftershocks are possible.
On June 8, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck the southern Philippines, resulting in the deaths of 65 people and leaving 35 missing, as well as displacing thousands of residents.
