Post: Over 100,000 Evacuated as Floods Threaten Eastern India’s Odisha State

Doha:Odisha Over 140,000 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas in Odisha, eastern India, due to rising water levels in the Mahanadi River, authorities reported on Tuesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Suresh Pujari, the Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, confirmed the evacuations. The Mahanadi River, passing through densely populated coastal areas, has experienced "minor flooding" following the release of excess water from the Hirakud Dam.

This situation is part of a broader seasonal flood crisis affecting India. States like Kerala, Assam, and Gujarat are also experiencing severe flooding due to heavy monsoon rains and landslides, posing ongoing challenges to disaster management and infrastructure systems.
