Doha:An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck the island of New Caledonia in the southwestern Pacific Ocean on Tuesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
New Caledonia is situated in the Pacific Ocean along the "Ring of Fire," a region known for its intense seismic and volcanic activity due to the interaction of tectonic plates.
