Doha: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa affirmed Thursday that international recognition of the State of Palestine is not the end of the Palestinian cause, but rather a necessary step toward realizing statehood on the ground and pursuing a comprehensive and just political solution. During his meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Hisashi Matsumoto, Mustafa emphasized the urgent need for increased international pressure on Israel to halt what he described as a genocide against the Palestinian people.
According to Qatar News Agency, Mustafa called for intensified relief efforts, comprehensive reconstruction, and the full realization of Palestinian sovereignty, stressing the importance of preventing future tragedies and aggression. Mustafa briefed the Japanese official on the latest developments in the West Bank, including ongoing settlement expansion, movement restrictions, and repeated incursions by Israeli forces, particularly in the northern areas, which have displaced thousands of families.
He also highlighted the deteriorating economic conditions, rising unemployment, and the financial crisis facing the Palestinian government due to Israel's continued withholding of tax revenues. The Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated his country's support for ending the conflict, reaffirming Japan's commitment to the two-state solution and its ongoing provision of economic and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
