Fulham remains on just two points, having drawn with Brighton and Manchester United in the first two rounds before suffering their first loss of the season.
Chelsea dominated the match, taking the lead in stoppage time of the first half through Joao Pedro's goal in the 45+9th minute. Enzo Fernandez doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.
The round will conclude Sunday with Nottingham Forest facing West Ham United, Brighton taking on Manchester City, Aston Villa playing Crystal Palace, and Liverpool hosting Arsenal.
