Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call on Friday from HE Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres. The conversation focused on developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly concerning the provisions and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and strategies to ensure its full execution.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the success of the agreement's first phase is a collective responsibility vital for achieving peace and stability in the region. He reiterated Qatar's commitment to fulfilling its humanitarian, historical, and diplomatic responsibilities towards the Palestinians.
HE the UN Secretary-General, in turn, expressed appreciation for Qatar's pivotal diplomatic efforts in facilitating the negotiations. He acknowledged Qatar's role in contributing significantly to reaching the ceasefire agreement.
