Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani held a meeting with HE Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Minister for Defense of the Republic of Ireland Simon Harris. The meeting focused on discussing cooperation between the two nations, highlighting opportunities for collaboration particularly in diplomatic, economic, trade, and investment sectors.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also covered potential partnerships in energy, technology, artificial intelligence, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The meeting addressed regional developments, with a specific focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. HE the Prime Minister expressed Qatar and the Arab community's appreciation for Ireland's recognition of the State of Palestine, noting Ireland's role as a model of peace and reconciliation.
HE the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland acknowledged Qatar's efforts in resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, and its contributions to regional and international peace and stability. He congratulated HE the Prime Minister on receiving the Tipperary International Peace Award. Additionally, he reaffirmed Ireland's support for Qatar following the attack by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base.
