Post: Qatar Announces Second Doha Dialogue on Labor Mobility in Tanzania

Doha:The Ministry of Labor has revealed that the Second Doha Dialogue on Labor Mobility will take place in the United Republic of Tanzania on October 5 and 6. The event, titled 'From Commitment to Action: Advancing Fair and Sustainable Labor Mobility between Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)+ Countries,' aims to promote international dialogue and foster cooperation in labor mobility.

According to Qatar News Agency, the dialogue will gather representatives from over 33 countries, including GCC states, African and Arab countries. Participants will include Ministers of Labor, representatives from the African Union Commission, the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs, international and regional organizations, experts, and academics.

The Doha Dialogue is based on an agreement between Qatar and the African Union and strives to create a consultative mechanism among GCC states, selected Arab countries, and African labor-sending countries. The initiative aims to share expertise, support regional cooperation, and enhance partnerships to facilitate labor recruitment and fair labor mobility.

Additionally, the dialogue seeks to strengthen human rights-based protection measures for African workers in GCC and Arab countries by ensuring safe and healthy working environments. The inaugural Doha Dialogue on Labor Mobility was launched by Qatar in 2024, with a focus on implementing best practices to improve worker recruitment and promote inter-regional labor mobility.
