Qatar Chamber Discusses Trade Cooperation with South Africa

Doha: The Qatar Chamber (QC) convened a meeting with a business delegation from South Africa, led by Zanelli Sani, Director of Export Promotion at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Competition. The Qatari side was represented by QC Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, alongside Qatari businessmen and company representatives, meeting with their South African counterparts.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing trade and economic relations between Qatar and South Africa, exploring investment opportunities across various sectors, and discussing the incentives each side offers to attract foreign investment. Al Obaidli highlighted the significant growth in bilateral relations, noting that South Africa is a vital trading partner for Qatar, with trade volume reaching approximately QR 630 million last year.

Al Obaidli emphasized the Chamber's commitment to supporting and facilitating partnerships between the Qatari and South African business communities. Zanelli Sani expressed gratitude to the Qatar Chamber for hosting the meeting, emphasizing its importance in reviewing the investment climate and exploring cooperation prospects. She highlighted shared economic diversification goals between the two nations.

Sani also noted the presence of leading South African companies in sectors like medical equipment and agricultural products, indicating potential for collaboration in these and other industries. During the meeting, the South African delegation presented investment opportunities in their country, outlining incentives for foreign investors and prospects in sectors such as mining, electric vehicles, energy, and technology.
