Baku: The State of Qatar participated in the opening of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, inaugurated by HE President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The meetings, held in Baku from June 16 to 19, 2026, focus on "Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity" and include wide participation from representatives of member states and international development partners.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar was represented at the meetings by HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari. Participants at the event discussed methods to enhance sustainable development and economic integration, reflecting Qatar's commitment to supporting development cooperation with member states and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
His Excellency also attended the first and second plenary sessions, which addressed several priority issues for member states. These sessions focused on strengthening development and economic cooperation, supporting the stability of the Islamic financial system, developing innovative financing tools, and exploring ways to enhance integration among member states. Additionally, the sessions aimed at expanding partnerships with regional and international financial institutions to support development efforts and economic growth.
