Doha: CEO of Mwani Qatar, Capt. Abdullah Mohamed Al Khanji, highlighted the significance of Qatar National Day, noting that it embodies the values and principles established by the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani. These principles have remained steadfast over time, forming the solid foundation upon which the modern state is built. In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Captain Al Khanji remarked that commemorating this occasion annually reaffirms loyalty to the founder's journey and the unity of leadership, government, and people. It also reflects the strength of the Qatari identity and the continuation of an approach that ensures the country's stability and prosperity.
According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar National Day plays a pivotal role in instilling and strengthening values of loyalty and belonging among the citizens. The day serves as an occasion that embodies the strong relationship between the people and their leadership, affirming pride in Qatar's achievements and future vision. It also contributes to deepening awareness of Qatar's history and development journey and reinforces the values of sacrifice, work, and loyalty to the homeland. Al Khanji emphasized that it strengthens the spirit of solidarity and encourages generations to emulate the sacrifices made by their forefathers to establish a strong and unified state under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Regarding Mwani Qatar's achievements in 2025, Al Khanji noted that the year marked an important milestone in advancing Qatar's position as a regional center for trade and logistics, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030. The year witnessed significant progress in implementing the Ministry of Transport's strategic plan, aiming to transform Qatar into a vibrant commercial and logistics hub. He affirmed that these achievements have fortified Mwani Qatar's role as a strategic link in global supply chains and a reliable gateway that diversifies the national economy and enhances stability.
One of the notable achievements was Hamad Port's ranking as first in the Gulf and eleventh globally in the World Bank's 2024 Container Port Performance Index. The port also entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest mangrove tree relocation project, underscoring its commitment to sustainable practices. On the cybersecurity front, Mwani Qatar obtained the ISO 27001 quality certificate in information security management, confirming its adherence to high standards of data protection.
Captain Al Khanji revealed that over 1.229 million containers were handled between January and October 2025, with transit containers re-shipped through Hamad Port comprising approximately 50 percent of this total. Additionally, more than 1.56 million tons of general and bulk cargo, 411,000 head of livestock, 500,000 tons of building materials, and 100,000 units of vehicles and equipment were handled through the arrival of 2,521 vessels at Hamad and Al Ruwais ports.
Digitalization plays a crucial role in Mwani Qatar's development strategy, with the 2025 launch of the 'Mwanina' smartphone application enhancing business efficiency and improving customer experience. Mwani Qatar also developed an integrated container operations management system at Ruwais Port, automating processes and improving performance quality. These digital initiatives have significantly enhanced the digital transformation of Qatar's ports, contributing to achieving QNV 2030 and consolidating the country's position as a leading regional logistics hub.
Looking ahead, Al Khanji stated that Mwani Qatar will focus on developing port infrastructure and expanding operational capabilities, adopting more digital transformation initiatives, strengthening international partnerships, and opening new shipping lines to support economic diversification and drive foreign trade. Mwani Qatar is also working on developing training programs for national cadres to ensure readiness for future requirements in line with national directives towards achieving QNV 2030.
