Post: Qatar Reaffirms Support for Durban Declaration at UN Meeting

New York:The State of Qatar participated in a high-level meeting commemorating the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, held alongside the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Qatar at the event. She reiterated Qatar's full support for the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, emphasizing the nation's dedication to promoting human rights, equality, and nondiscrimination.

Her Excellency also highlighted Qatar's ongoing national and international efforts to combat discrimination and enhance inclusion and community participation. She pointed out various initiatives and legislation that are part of these efforts, including Qatar's role in hosting the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha in 2025. Additionally, she mentioned Qatar's contribution to international efforts to address inequalities and strengthen social protection.

Sheikha Hanouf reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to supporting the full and effective implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action on an international level.
