According to Qatar News Agency, Boualem Khoukhi opened the scoring for Qatar in the 61st minute. The match saw Qatar dominate possession and create multiple scoring opportunities, while Bahrain struggled to find an equalizer. Despite being reduced to 10 men after Ahmed Fathi received a second yellow card in the 70th minute, Qatar maintained their lead. Bahrain increased their offensive efforts but failed to score. In the ninth minute of added time, Qatar captain Hassan Al Haydos secured the victory with a penalty after being fouled by Bahrain's Abbas Al Asfour, who was subsequently sent off. This win places Qatar level on three points with the UAE, who defeated Yemen 4-0 earlier. Bahrain and Yemen remain without points.
