Punta cana: The State of Qatar has successfully expanded its global aviation network by signing a series of air services agreements and memoranda of understanding during its participation in the International Air Services Negotiation Conference (ICAN 2025) held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) played a pivotal role in these negotiations, enhancing Qatar's connectivity with several countries.
According to Qatar News Agency, QCAA Acting President Mohammed bin Faleh Al Hajri took a leading role by initialing an air services agreement and signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Mali. Additionally, he signed air services agreements with Uganda, Cape Verde, Haiti, and Honduras. These agreements mark a significant step in expanding Qatar's aviation horizon.
Furthermore, Al Hajri signed MoUs to increase air transport rights with Vietnam, South Africa, and Hong Kong, signaling a mutual interest in boosting air connectivity. The conference also saw the signing of meeting minutes with Spain and Kenya, providing a foundation for future cooperation.
In a bid to strengthen international aviation relations, Al Hajri held separate meetings with civil aviation authorities from Tanzania, Colombia, Canada, Switzerland, Jamaica, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia. These discussions aimed at fostering deeper cooperation and exploring new possibilities within the civil aviation sector, showcasing Qatar's commitment to global aviation development.
