Doha: The Qatar Tennis Federation will launch an officiating training course for a group of male and female trainees starting from Monday. This is part of the Federation's ongoing commitment to qualifying a new generation of skilled referees.
According to Qatar News Agency, the comprehensive course features both theoretical and practical components. Participants will receive specialized training on the roles of line judge and chair umpire, alongside in-depth lectures designed to deepen their understanding of game rules and match management techniques.
Upon its completion, trainees will be awarded a nationally accredited certificate from the Federation, officially qualifying them to officiate at local tournaments.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel, and Badminton Federation Tariq Zainal stated that training and qualifying referees is a cornerstone of the Federation's strategy to elevate tennis, adding that they are dedicated to ensuring that the referees are fully equipped to manage tournaments to the highest international standards.
Zainal added that this course marks a significant step in raising the caliber of local officiating. It aligns with the Federation's broader mission to enhance national officiating and increase the involvement of qualified referees in tournaments at the local, regional, and international levels.
