Qatari Newspapers Focus on Digital Government Progress and Regional Security Efforts

Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted, in their Tuesday editorials, a number of key local and international issues, most notably, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's chairmanship of the Steering Committee for Smart Government and Digital Leadership meeting. During the meeting, they discussed the progress achieved in national plans and projects related to digital government, along with ways to enhance integration among ministries, authorities, and public institutions, and to support digital empowerment initiatives.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also praised the intensive efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar to support a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, and to back de-escalation initiatives to address the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue, ultimately reaching a sustainable agreement that would prevent renewed escalation and contribute to strengthening regional security and stability.

On the local front, the newspapers commended the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Municipality in recent years to enhance agricultural sustainability, improve local production, and ensure the quality of livestock products aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 in terms of food security.

Al-Raya newspaper, in its editorial, praised the ambitious plans and pioneering initiatives adopted by Qatar to expand the positive use of cutting-edge technology as part of the Digital Agenda 2030. In this context, the newspaper highlighted the meeting chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which progress in national digital government plans and projects was reviewed, alongside efforts to strengthen coordination among ministries, authorities, and public institutions and support digital empowerment initiatives. The measures, it noted, contribute to achieving Qatar digitalization goals and facilitate accessibility to government services and transactions for individuals and institutions across various sectors.

Al-Raya said that Qatar digital transformation strategy is based on several key pillars, including the development of digital infrastructure and the promotion of innovation in e-government services to enhance its efficiency and effectiveness. This strategy focuses on increasing the accessibility of government services available online, thus improving user experience.

Al-Raya concluded by saying that Qatar strives to build an active and secure digital technology sector that contributes to strengthening and diversifying the national economy. This comes as a part of the state's efforts to develop a digital society where all individuals enjoy equal access to technology and the acquisition of digital skills, ultimately leading to the construction of a smart Qatar. In this regard, the country has worked to support research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in a manner that benefits everyone.

Similarly, Al-Sharq newspaper stated in its editorial that, stemming from Qatar's priority to build a distinguished digital government system capable of providing the best services efficiently and effectively, a key objective of the Third National Development Strategy, the Steering Committee for Smart Government and Digital Leadership meeting was held on Monday, chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

Al-Sharq added that the committee responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of the government's Digital Agenda, coordinating efforts among ministries, government agencies, public institutions, and non-governmental entities concerning initiatives, projects, and programs related to digital government, and ensuring integration among the strategies, plans, and programs of all entities, are expected to further strengthen the country comprehensive development plans across all fields.

Al-Sharq concluded by underscoring the importance of the committee and its decisions, reflected in the objectives it seeks to achieve, guiding it is the attainment of government excellence, as a main pillar of the Third National Development Strategy. This objective supports sustainable development and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
