DOHA: Qatar News Agency (QNA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday with Iran’s Mehr News Agency to enhance cooperation in the field of news exchange, reflecting their mutual commitment to developing relations that serve their shared goals and objectives. The MoU was signed by HE Director-General of QNA Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi and HE Director-General of Mehr News Agency Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati.
According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement will see both agencies exchange news, reports, and bulletins across various domains, including political, economic, cultural, sports, social, and video services. They will leverage modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, ensuring accuracy, responsibility, and commitment to high-quality content.
The MoU also outlines mechanisms for implementing these initiatives using the transmission and reception methods available to both agencies, with the goal of providing top-tier services in the agreed-upon fields. During a tour of QNA’s departments
, sections, and units, HE Mohammad Mahdi Rahmati was briefed on the agency’s operations, including its processes for collecting news from diverse sources and distributing it to subscribers, partners, and other stakeholders in Qatar and abroad using advanced technologies.
Commenting on the signing of the MoU, HE Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with Mehr News Agency to facilitate mutual exchange of expertise in the news sector, particularly in the use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. He highlighted QNA’s extensive experience in various news domains and its adoption of diverse technologies to disseminate content, expressing confidence that the MoU would achieve its objectives and serve the current and future joint orientations of both agencies.
