Doha: Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Sunday launched a specialized training course on monitoring and analysis of social media platforms. The move is part of a series of professional development programs organized by the QNA Training Center, reflecting the agency's ongoing efforts to upskill its media personnel and enhance their capabilities in digital journalism and content analytics.
According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day course is lectured by Ibrahim Ayyad, a media expert at QNA, with the participation of functionaries from various public ministries and authorities, alongside personnel from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The course aims to enable participants to monitor and unpack developments across social media in multiple fields, compose accurate analytical reports that support decision-making, and provide stakeholders with insights into social media trends.
The course intends to advance the trainees' skills in leveraging online monitoring tools and unpacking digital data, as well as fostering their capabilities to handle rapid incidents via digital platforms. It covers themes such as understanding public opinion trends in various countries through daily monitoring of key issues and documentation, ensuring that the reports serve as a documented record for future reference.
Additionally, the course focuses on identifying influential accounts and platforms, monitoring their interaction with public issues, handling rumors promptly, and staying ahead of events through real-time monitoring and proactive content analysis. The emphasis is on the significance of digital media in shaping optics and enhancing efficiency in dealing with social media issues for media and national institutions.
The course is part of QNA's vision to qualify its media workforce in line with global advancements in media, by holding professional training programs in the agency's training halls. These halls, built in 2023, serve as an integrated platform to bolster media capabilities based on high global professional standards.
