Post: QRCS Medical Convoy Initiates Surgical Aid in Sudan

Bahri:Sudan: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has introduced a comprehensive medical convoy in Sudan, deploying a team of volunteer medical professionals from Qatar to perform surgeries for displaced and disadvantaged patients at Bahri Teaching Hospital.

According to Qatar News Agency, the medical team includes Dr. Mansour Ahmed Jaber, a senior consultant pediatric surgeon from Sidra Medicine, and Dr. Siddiq Mohieddin Siddiq, a consultant general surgeon from Hamad Medical Corporation. They aim to conduct up to 116 free surgeries in general, urology, and pediatric fields over one week.

The initiative was launched with the presence of Khartoum State Minister of Health, Dr. Mahmoud Al Badri, who praised it as one of the most extensive surgical convoys in terms of specialties and direct services. To further enhance medical services, the hospital staff will receive training from the visiting experts.

In response to the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for Sudan, which highlights that 14.7 million people struggle to access essential healthcare, QRCS is planning additional medical convoys and health projects. These include eye care, specialized surgeries, disability aids, dialysis equipment, and cancer drugs, aiming to impact over 7,400 lives with a budget of at least QAR 8 million.
