Russia Announces Control of Town in Eastern Ukraine, Shoots Down 158 Drones

Doha: Russia's Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that its forces have taken control of another new town in eastern Ukraine, eliminating 665 soldiers and shooting down 158 drones.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry reported that units from the "South" group managed to capture the town of Fedorivka in the Donetsk region. It added that Russian forces targeted Ukrainian Armed Forces in several areas across the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions, resulting in the death or injury of 665 Ukrainian soldiers and the destruction of dozens of armored vehicles, cannons, cars, ammunition depots, and electronic warfare stations.

The ministry also noted that Russian tactical operational aviation, attack drones, missile forces, and artillery caused damage to the infrastructure of a military airport and to production facilities and drone storage depots belonging to the Ukrainian army.

Since the outbreak of war in February 2022, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged near-daily reports of repelling each other's attacks - claims that remain difficult to independently verify.
