Budva: With a delegation led by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, the Shura Council is actively participating in the inaugural summit of the Speakers and Presidents of Parliaments from the member and partner countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) and PAM 20th Plenary Session, hosted in Budva, Montenegro on May 6-7.
According to Qatar News Agency, the summit will address several crucial topics, particularly focusing on parliamentary diplomacy and its role in strengthening institutional resilience. The agenda includes discussions on political and security cooperation, dialogue between civilizations, human rights, economic and environmental challenges, along with issues related to migration and children in armed conflicts. These discussions aim to enhance parliamentary coordination and facilitate the exchange of experiences among member and partner states.
This summit marks a significant milestone in PAM's efforts, bringing together parliamentary leaders to discuss regional and international issues and to foster joint parliamentary action.
Moreover, the General Secretariat of the Shura Council took part in the 5th Meeting of Secretaries General of PAM Member and Partner Parliaments, conducted on the sidelines of the 20th session of the PAM General Assembly in Montenegro. HE Shura Council Secretary-General, Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud highlighted the importance of effectively utilizing knowledge to serve institutional goals. He pointed out the opportunities presented by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technologies, which allow parliaments to reformulate knowledge management systems into analytical tools that support decision-making and collaborative work.
His Excellency underscored the challenges parliaments face in managing extensive legislative and oversight data, advocating for practical models that transform institutional knowledge into shared intelligence through artificial intelligence. This transformation is aimed at improving the quality of legislation, enhancing oversight and policy analysis, and boosting transparency and parliamentary performance.
HE Al Mahmoud also discussed the Shura Council General Secretariat's strategic plan for 2025-2030, which focuses on developing legislative and oversight support systems, enhancing administrative efficiency, and promoting digital transformation and institutional innovation. The strategy includes initiatives for digitizing processes and building electronic knowledge platforms to support a smart work environment.
In his concluding remarks, HE Al Mahmoud emphasized the role of AI in advancing parliamentary work, aiming for a qualitative leap in managing institutional knowledge and transforming it into shared parliamentary intelligence that supports decision-making and enhances transparency.
Additionally, HE Vice President of PAM and member of the Bureau Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki Al Subaie attended the 58th meeting of the PAM Bureau. The meeting addressed various organizational issues related to PAM's functioning and activities.
