Nagoya: Team Qatar's equestrian riders secured a gold and a bronze medal as the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 concluded.
According to Qatar News Agency, Faleh Sweid Al Ajami claimed the gold medal in the individual show jumping event, delivering a remarkable performance in the final stages to top the podium. His victory added another gold to Qatar's medal tally at the Games.
Bassem Mohammed also contributed to Qatar's success by securing a bronze medal in the individual competition. This achievement ensured that Team Qatar's riders were prominently represented on the podium.
The individual competitions featured leading riders from across Asia and were contested in two categories based on fence height. Team Qatar's riders excelled in both, demonstrating the strong presence of Qatari equestrian sport at the event.
These achievements brought Qatar's final tally to 18 medals at the Games, comprising six gold, six silver, and six bronze. This success marks one of Qatar's strongest campaigns in the Asian Games.
Sheikh Ahmad bin Nooh Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, expressed his delight at the riders' achievements and dedicated the success to the wise leadership of Qatar. He congratulated Al Ajami and Mohammed, extending best wishes to other riders who did not make the podium.
He praised the entire Team Qatar equestrian contingent, acknowledging the challenges in team competitions but celebrating the individual successes. Sheikh Ahmad also congratulated fellow Gulf riders who won medals, highlighting the strong performances of Qatar's riders throughout the Games.
