Doha: The Universities Cricket Championship for the 2025-2026 sports season (Men's category) kicked off at Qatar Foundation's grounds, organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation in cooperation with the Qatar Cricket Committee and hosted by Qatar Foundation. The tournament features teams from leading universities and higher education institutions across the country and will run until November 22.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the opening match, Doha University for Science and Technology claimed a decisive victory over City University College Ulster with a score of 187-66. In the second game, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar defeated Oryx University 130-63. The championship teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Doha University for Science and Technology, Qatar University, and City University College Ulster, while Group B includes Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar, and Oryx University.
The tournament is part of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation's agenda to promote cricket within the university community and encourage students to engage in healthy competition in an ideal sporting environment.
