Washington: US lawmakers have revealed that the Senate is moving toward passing a bill to impose sanctions on Russia and on countries that purchase Russian oil and commodities.
According to Qatar News Agency, US Senator Lindsey Graham, speaking after his talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that the Senate is expected to move forward next week with legislation targeting Russia and its trade partners. He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of trying to prolong the peace process.
For the bill to become law, it must be passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives, and then signed by President Donald Trump, who currently supports delaying additional sanctions, arguing they could undermine efforts to reach a peace agreement.
