Years of Culture Initiative Launches 3rd Int’l Volunteer Trip to Argentina and Chile

Doha: The Years of Culture initiative, in collaboration with the Qatar Museums' Community Service section, has launched its third international volunteer trip to support community service projects in Argentina and Chile. The two-week volunteer journey is part of the Qatar Argentina and Chile 2025 Year of Culture, offering employees, artists, and volunteers the opportunity to exchange cultural knowledge, contribute to exploring cultural heritage, engage with local communities, and participate in practical environmental and artistic activities.

According to Qatar News Agency, following the success of previous trips to Indonesia in 2023 and Morocco in 2024, this year's program offers a range of experiences including workshops, community initiatives, and culinary diplomacy experiences. These activities aim to deepen cultural understanding between Qatar and the host communities in Buenos Aires and the town of Matanzas.

Head of Community Service at Qatar Museums, Hazem Idris, stated that the program, which grows each year, helps volunteers become cultural ambassadors, building bridges of understanding and connection with communities around the world. He explained that volunteers in Buenos Aires will collaborate with partners such as the Mayor's Office, the Ministries of Culture and Economy, and the La Cisterna archaeological site, as well as organizations including Andar Foundation. Activities will include the restoration of historical artifacts, art and cultural workshops, and culinary knowledge exchange in partnership with the Chamber of Hotels, Restaurants, and Caf©s.

In Chile, volunteers will work with the local community in Matanzas through a joint program featuring activities like mural painting, seaweed collection, environmental conservation, plant renewal, and photography and pottery workshops. Additionally, communal cooking events will be held to foster connection through food, storytelling, and local traditions.
