Algeria and Namibia Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Energy and Hydrocarbons

Algiers: Algerian Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy Mohamed Arkab engaged in discussions with Namibian Vice President Lucia Witbooi regarding the enhancement of cooperation in the energy and hydrocarbons sectors. This meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Algeria and Namibia in these crucial sectors.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also explored expanding cooperation to encompass the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity. Additionally, the topics of developing, managing, and maintaining electrical networks and photovoltaic solar energy projects were addressed. Both parties emphasized the significance of exchanging expertise in regulation, management, legislation, training, and conducting studies related to the oil and gas industry.

In the meeting, Arkab underscored the new dynamics characterizing the relations between the two countries, reaffirming Algeria's commitment to an energy policy grounded in partnerships. Vice President Witbooi expressed Namibia's interest in benefiting from Algerian experience and enhancing partnerships with Algerian companies, notably Sonatrach, to develop the entire hydrocarbons value chain.
