Health Minister Inaugurates Qatar Medicare with Participation of 100 Companies

Doha: HE Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud inaugurated the second edition of Qatar's International Healthcare and Medical Exhibition and Conference, known as Qatar Medicare. The event gathers 100 companies, including 64 local and 36 international exhibitors, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) and will continue until Thursday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition is organized by IFP Qatar in collaboration with Qatar Chamber (QC) and held under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health. Chair of the Health Committee at Qatar Chamber, Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, highlighted the commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, noting that Qatar Medicare exemplifies the strong public-private collaboration driving the country's healthcare landscape.

Fitch Solutions, a subsidiary of Fitch Ratings, projects accelerated growth in Qatar's healthcare sector. By 2029, total health expenditure is expected to rise at a compound annual growth rate of 14 percent, reaching USD 11.5 billion (QR 41.86 billion). This positions Qatar as the third-largest healthcare market in the GCC and the tenth-largest in the MENA region.

Hayat Bayan, Commercial and Operations Director at IFP Qatar, stated that Qatar Medicare includes daily one-on-one meetings between exhibitors, visitors, and major hospitals, alongside panel discussions and workshops featuring over 55 speakers. The event will conclude with the Qatar Medicare 2025 Healthcare Excellence Awards, recognizing excellence in 15 categories.

Dr. Hadi Mohamad Abu Rasheed, Scientific Advisor at Qatar Cancer Society and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Cancer Patients Alliance, emphasized the organization's participation as a Silver Sponsor. The focus is on enhancing awareness efforts regarding cancer prevention, early detection, and public education, as well as exploring new technologies and partnerships to improve healthcare practices.
