Israeli Knesset Passes First Reading of Controversial Execution Bill

Jerusalem: The Knesset plenum has approved the first reading of a contentious bill that seeks to execute Palestinian prisoners. The bill, proposed by Limor Son-Harmalk of the Otzma Yehudit party, received 36 votes in favor and 15 against, and is now set to be reviewed by the relevant parliamentary committee for further readings.

According to Qatar News Agency, another similar bill was also passed by the Knesset, introduced by Oded Forer from the opposition Yisrael Beiteinu party, with a vote count of 37 in favor and 14 against. This development indicates a rare instance of cooperation between the Israeli coalition and opposition, as both sides appear to target the Palestinian national movement within Israeli prisons.
