Jordan’s King Calls for Global Action on Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

Cairo: King Abdullah II of Jordan has stressed the need to intensify international efforts for the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip after reaching a ceasefire agreement.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the Jordanian monarch emphasized the significance of adhering to the implementation of all phases of the agreement reached through the efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye. He highlighted the necessity of building on this progress to achieve a comprehensive calm in the region.

King Abdullah II also cautioned against the continuation of unilateral measures against Palestinians in the West Bank and attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem. In this context, he praised the recent decision by the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) concerning the preservation of the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its walls.
