Doha: HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani met with HE Minister of the Interior of the Italian Republic Matteo Piantedosi, who is currently visiting the country. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Qatar and Italy in various security fields, aiming to strengthen and develop mutual interests.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions also included the signing of a cooperation agreement to ensure the security of the Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. This agreement marks a significant step in collaboration between the two nations, showcasing their commitment to international security efforts.
Additionally, during the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani presented Matteo Piantedosi with a commemorative gift. The gift, a Smith and Wesson revolver manufactured in 1957, symbolizes the policing heritage of Qatar, further emphasizing the cultural exchange between the countries.
