Ministry of Education Advocates for Women’s Empowerment at World Social Summit

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education actively participated in a dialogue session organized by the National Planning Council during the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025. The session, titled 'Empowering Women: Promoting Equality and Leadership,' was part of the summit's overarching theme, 'Leaving No One Behind: Fostering Inclusive Development.'

According to Qatar News Agency, Maha Zayed Al Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, emphasized in her speech that education plays a crucial role in achieving equality and empowering women. She highlighted Qatar's transition from providing equal educational opportunities to focusing on the qualitative empowerment of learners, ensuring education aligns with students' abilities, interests, and the country's future needs.

Al Ruwaili discussed the Ministry's initiatives to enhance female participation in STEM fields and expand specialized schools. She also outlined programs supporting innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship to prepare a confident generation for national development. She concluded by affirming the Ministry's commitment to fostering a generation of innovators capable of leading Qatar's digital and economic transformation through digital skills and a culture of digital citizenship.

The session featured various speakers, including Sheikha Shaikha bint Jassim Al-Thani, Dr. Sharifa Al Emadi, Fawaz Al Musaifri, and Bassam Al Mannai, moderated by Najla Al Jaber from the National Planning Council. This participation underscores the Ministry's dedication to integrating education with social development and the principles of equality and inclusion.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, held two additional dialogue sessions focused on education's role in social justice and human development. The first session addressed aligning education policies with labor market needs amid economic and technological changes, featuring contributions from Saleh Al Muftah, Najla Al Khater, Khalid bin Khalfan Al Maamari, Dr. Anas Abu Hilal, and Dr. Fatima Rouis.

The second session emphasized education as a tool for achieving social justice and inclusion, highlighting initiatives for students with disabilities. It featured insights from Aisha Al Emadi, Manah Fahad Al Ahbabi, Dr. Fatima Rouis, Manger Managhmi, and Gopal Mitra, moderated by Dr. Khalid Al Balushi. Both sessions attracted participants from the Ministry and summit attendees, coordinated by Fatima Al Ali and Munira Al Kuwari from the Qatar National Commission.
