Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), has organized a series of educational seminars for school students under the banner "Young Innovator".
According to Qatar News Agency, these sessions were conducted at Qatar Technical Secondary School for Boys and Al Kaaban Primary Preparatory Secondary School for Girls, and the activities are set to continue until the end of the current academic year. This initiative aims to enhance students' understanding of intellectual property, develop their creative and innovative capabilities, and provide them with practical experience and professional insights to protect their inventions and ideas.
The seminar introduced students to the "Beginner's Guide," which explains fundamental concepts of intellectual property and its significance in everyday life. Various branches of intellectual property were discussed, including industrial property such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, as well as copyright and related rights.
The sessions highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and their impact on supporting national industries and products, while also fostering intellectual, artistic, and technological growth. This effort is intended to stimulate innovation and creativity on a national scale.
Students were also informed about the Ministry's main initiatives in protecting intellectual property and its efforts to develop a comprehensive electronic system that adheres to the highest international standards. This system assists trademark owners, inventors, innovators, authors, and rights holders in preserving and safeguarding their work.
The program concluded with the introduction of the "Young Innovator" competition, which encourages students to participate in creative and inventive activities. At the end of the program, five winners will be chosen and honored with symbolic and material prizes in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions.
