Post: National Campaign Launched for Influenza Vaccination

Hanoi:The Ministry of Public Health has initiated the National Seasonal Influenza Vaccination and Awareness Campaign, which will run until March 2027. This effort is in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Healthcare Corporation, and various public, semi-government, and private healthcare facilities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the campaign is designed to protect public health and reduce influenza-related complications, particularly as the winter season typically sees an increase in infections. Target populations include those aged 50 and older, children aged 6 months to 5 years, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes and asthma.

The flu vaccine is offered free of charge at PHCC centers, HMC health facilities, and over 50 private healthcare facilities nationwide. Eligible individuals can receive the vaccine without a prior appointment at any PHCC center. Fast-track protocols have been implemented to streamline the process and minimize waiting times.

Dr. Hamad Eid Al Romaihi, Director of the Health Protection and Communicable Diseases Control Department at the Ministry of Public Health, emphasized Qatar's commitment to public health through national vaccination campaigns. He noted the importance of receiving the annual vaccine, developed by the World Health Organization, to protect against evolving influenza strains.

The Ministry urges citizens and residents, particularly those at higher risk, to get vaccinated promptly. The vaccination plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health and preventing the spread of infection. An internal vaccination campaign is also organized for ministry employees to ensure a healthy work environment.
