Russia Reaffirms Ending Ukraine War Hinges on Achieving Declared Objectives

Moscow: Russia reaffirmed Monday that it seeks to bring the war in Ukraine to a close, but only after achieving its stated objectives. Russia's position remains unchanged, and the war in Ukraine could end at any moment, but only once Moscow attains its goals, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov at a press conference.

According to Qatar News Agency, Peskov added that Russia gives priority to achieving this through political and diplomatic means. He stated that the belief that Ukraine could prevail in the war is a profound fallacy, noting that the conflict will end when Russia realizes its declared objectives.

The number of Ukrainians willing to accept Russia's terms for ending the war has quadrupled since 2022, Peskov highlighted, saying this is moving in a steady direction, and the number of such individuals will continue to increase.

Peskov further emphasized that Russia remains open to resolving the conflict through political and diplomatic avenues, but the situation is stalled, and not due to any failing on Russia's part. Responding to a question on whether Russia had reviewed Hungary's ideas for ending the Ukrainian conflict, Peskov said Russia hasn't yet had the opportunity to examine them.
