Qatar Airways and UN OCHA Launch Partnership to Share Humanitarian Stories

Doha: HE Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya has highlighted Qatar's significant role in humanitarian diplomacy during the launch of a new partnership between the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Qatar Airways. The initiative aims to share humanitarian stories with millions of travelers globally through an in-flight video showcasing the power of global solidarity.

According to Qatar News Agency, Msuya's remarks were made on the final day of the Second World Summit for Social Development. She praised the summit's spirit of international cooperation and emphasized that solidarity has been key in addressing global challenges over the past three decades, lifting over a billion people out of extreme poverty and increasing education opportunities for girls. Msuya stressed the importance of this collaboration in turning the vision of the Doha Declaration into reality, focusing on human dignity, equality, and peace.

Msuya expressed pride in the partnership with Qatar Airways, highlighting their shared commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting values of solidarity and compassion. This collaboration unites governments, the private sector, and the United Nations to ensure no one is left behind, especially in addressing global challenges such as inequality, conflict, and climate shocks affecting the poorest communities.

Beyond the video campaign, OCHA and Qatar Airways plan to expand their cooperation to include emergency air transport, cargo delivery, public engagement, and fundraising. Msuya emphasized that social development is about inclusion and opportunity, reflecting Qatar's commitments through the summit and the partnership.

Msuya concluded her speech by stating that the announcement marks a milestone in reminding the world that compassion still exists, and when people work together, even the sky is not the limit.
