United nations: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced that one million Syrian refugees have returned to their country since the fall of the Bashar Al Assad regime last December. The agency is calling for increased support to facilitate the return of more refugees.
According to Qatar News Agency, the UNHCR released a statement highlighting that within a span of nine months, one million refugees have made their way back to Syria following the collapse of the Bashar Al Assad government on December 8, 2024. This significant movement marks a crucial phase in Syria's recovery process.
The statement emphasized the urgent need for the international community to extend more support aimed at alleviating the suffering and displacement of millions of Syrians who have been compelled to leave their homes over the past 14 years. It also stressed the importance of international assistance in helping Syria rebuild and stabilize in the aftermath of prolonged conflict.
